Thank you, Mr. Jones. *Wipes tears from eyes.* Now, finally, I understand the profundity of the Bieber.

The band is Onmyouza; the song, “konpeki no soujin.” The fusion of Western metal and Japanese aesthetics is seamless, harmonious.

Stood Up
John Hiatt - Bring the Family
Wanna know what sobriety sounds like? Listen to “Stood Up” by John Hiatt. It’s the tenderest, rawest, gentlest, oh-so-wide-awake Country ballad you’re ever gonna hear. The song and the album it’s from, Bring the Family, was, and remains, a revelation for me.
I loved you for your beauty but that does not make a fool of me: you were in it for your beauty too. Leonard Cohen

Someone to Watch Over Me
Willie Nelson - Stardust
I have soft spot for Willie Nelson’s rendition of “Someone to Watch over Me.” His jazzy guitar phrasing and nasal vocal twang make this song (really, all the material on Stardust) better than just a collection of standards. My homies, Darren and Todd, and I wore the cassette out in the summer of ’81 as we barrelled up and down the Cape Breton coast, warbling “Blue Skies” from Port Morien to Mira.
